Finally finished & other bits…

6 01 2016

Wow, 2015 already and the last post was some time in 2014!! That just goes to show how much time can be taken up by doing a 3 year BA Degree alongside all the other stuff life continually throws at you! πŸ˜‰ Β But, i did it…. i finally finished my Degree in Music Production at UCS (Bury St Edmunds). Really pleased that it’s over…. the stress factor was almost too much.

So, with 2016 under way, what’s to follow now? Well, hopefully at least a few more (Frequent) posts would be nice. Went and did a videoshoot with the fabulous and amazing Mr David Cross on the 4th of January 2016. Had an amazing time, really cool to catch up with all the other band members and i really hope that 2016 provides us with the opportunity to take the DCB out to Europe and beyond….. with the release of the new album (“Sign of the Crow”) the music is just soooo good…. it has to be heard! I’ll do some magic and conjure up a few World Tours! πŸ˜‰

Also got some new ideas for songs and original compositions etc, which is incredibly exciting…. plus, i’m just starting to get into Logic Pro X and after many years of being a Windows addict, i’m now slowly starting to use OSX (El Capitan) on the Macbook Pro…. Hopefully a Mac in the studio will also ensure sometimethis year…. i’m working on it. πŸ™‚

Loads of collaborations in the wind also, with some really cool people, so stay tuned for some new music! Nuff said…. have a crazy day, week, month and see you soon. πŸ™‚

3rd Year up & running….

15 10 2014

One day (And it’ll arrive soon as these things always do) the 3rd year will be done and dusted and (hopefully) i’ll have a BA Hons Degree in Music Production, complete with James Accreditation which, it has to be said, is an added bonus that i didn’t expect but am very happy about. πŸ™‚Β  It’s been a fun ride (So far) with more than a few hefty bumps along the way. I’ve learned a bundle, and i’m still learning…… BUT, most importantly, i’ve met some incredible people and made some amazing friends, many of whom i’ll have for life. If anyone out there is thinking of getting a Degree in Music Production (BA Hons or FdA) you could do a lot worse than check out the wonderful UCS campus at Bury St Edmunds. Great people, great place with amazing courses and available to all people, regardless of age (Yes, i’m a Mature Student & i’m loving it!…. Can you tell?) πŸ™‚

2nd Year finally done.

15 06 2014

As the 2nd year drew to a close I often wondered if I would be returning to University for the 3rd year Top Up (apparently that’s what it’s called) ? As I have just finished the 2nd year, and with a Foundation Degree in hand after doing the 2 years of study…. I did question it many times and from various different angles and possibilities.  But in the end it was a simple choice. Do one more year of an immensely interesting subject and learn a load more stuff…. take a few tests, write a 10,000 word dissertation about what er subject I choose and, when it’s all over….. walk away with a BT (Hons) and the satisfaction of a job well done!! No contest…… πŸ™‚

The Stolen Child (Poem)

3 12 2013

One of my favourite poems, ever. A timeless prose from a Master, W.B.Yeats.

Where dips the rocky highland
Of Sleuth Wood in the lake,
There lies a leafy islandWhere flapping herons wake
The drowsy water rats;
There we’ve hid our faery vats,
Full of berries
And of reddest stolen cherries.

Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand.
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wave of moonlight glosses
The dim gray sands with light,
Far off by furthest roses
We foot it all the night,
Weaving olden dances
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight;
To and fro we leap
And chase the frothy bubbles,
While the world is full of troubles
And anxious in its sleep.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car,
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star,
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.

Away with us he’s going,
The solemn-eyed:
He’ll hear no more the lowing
Of the calves on the warm hillside
Or the kettle on the hob
Sing peace into his breast,
Or see the brown mice bob
Round and round the oatmeal chest
For he comes, the human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
From a world more full of weeping than he can understand

Zak Justin in the house….

1 03 2013

Today i have the wonderful and talented Mr Zak Justin of “Planet Trashmere”, coming into the studio to record his new EP entitled “Elegant Siezure”.Β  4 or 5 brand new songs that will be given the Justin/Wilde treatment! πŸ™‚ Great fun and hopefully some excellent results, really looking forward to this one. πŸ™‚

On other notes, just had an email from the veritable Mick Paul, that we may have a DCB “Mini Tour” in September, covering Austria, Germany and possibly BeloRussia!!? (At least i think that’s what he said?)Β  I’ll hopefully find out some more details soon, but this looks rather cool.

Been busy at Uni, doing all sorts of stuff. Did a wonderful night at the Devils Kitchen Collective about a month back, with Jon Hart and Richard Crooke, both from WSC. Jon was using the incredible “Venue” desk, last of the DigiDesign series and we got to check it out and see how it worked and performed. It was put to good use with the amazing collection of musicians who go under the name of “Fletch’s Brew”, Fletch being Mark Fletcher, a most incredible and amazingly versatile drummer!! Along with musical cohorts Steve Pearce (Bass), Freddie Gavita (Trumpet) & Carl Orr (Guitar) …… Wow, these guys are incredible and will just blow you away with their playing!! Great night and very much enjoyed. (See Gallery Below)

Words really cannot describe just how great these guys are, and their music is jaw droppingly fantastic! If you ever get the chance to see them, please do so….. you won’t regret it, especially if you like Modern Arse Kicking Jazz! πŸ™‚

That’s about it for now….. gotta go get ready for the session. Todle pip. πŸ™‚

DCB @ The Peel – Review.

18 01 2012

As you may (or may not?) know, i have been the lead vocalist with the Davod Cross Band (Ex King Crimson Violinist) since late 2007…. getting on for 5 years now…. how time flies! πŸ™‚Β  In that time we’ve done many gigs both in the UK & Europe. One of the last gigs we did in 2011 has just been reviewed by none other than Classic Rock Magazine. It’s only a small piece but a very welcomed one nonetheless. I’ve included a picture of the clip here for those that are interested in such things….. hope you enjoy & thanks for reading. πŸ™‚
